The Kingfishers are here!

We are very excited to be back at school and to be a Kind Kingfishers, exploring and learning lots of new things this autumn term. We are very happy to be back at school, being back with friends, talking about our new adventure in year 1, and all the projects we are going to embark on!

Since coming back to school we have had lots of exciting new things happen! We have had two rabbits join our little family, we have loved seeing them and researching into how/where they live, what they eat and the different types of rabbits out there! We have a new area to explore being in year 1, as well as still being able to join in with the new fledglings in the outside shared busy garden.
We have been getting back into routines and how we can be ‘kind Kingfishers’ to each other and around school too; as well as beginning our intriguing learning this term. Particularly looking at maths this week, we have been investigating number recognition, how numbers are formed, matching a digit to an object amount and exploring addition and subtraction!
We have also enjoyed becoming scientists in our new investigation station; exploring how liquids and solids work together, if they dissolve or finding out if another reaction happens. 
Kingfishers have also been researching and inspecting ocean pollution in a variety of ways, from books like 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley' to new areas in our busy learning room like our new pollution beach box. We are very excited to learn more about this project as our adventure through year 1 begins!
