Year 3 Athletics in Action!
Today in PE, Year 3 have been developing their athletics skills with sprinting and long jump. The children practised running in their own lanes, starting races with "On your marks, get set, go!", and thinking about the importance of staying in lane and reacting to the start signal.
We also explored sprinting technique, experimenting with how our head position, arm movement and foot placement can affect our speed. The pupils discovered that looking straight ahead, pumping their arms, and running on the balls of their feet helps them move faster and more efficiently.
To finish the lesson, the children applied their techniques in some exciting 40–80m sprint races and showed fantastic effort, determination and sportsmanship throughout!
Well done, Year 3!
