At St Mary’s we are proud of our brilliant kitchen team led by Lorraine and supported by Rosie. They work every day to bring our children healthy and nutritious food and the children love their time with them too.
Recently the catering company that they work for has not been able to offer them or us the quality of employment or the professional service we have come to rely on. Therefore, along with a number of other ODST schools, we are bringing our catering ‘in house’. This means that Lorraine and Rosie will become direct employees of St Mary’s and ODST and will have our own catering team.
Lorraine, now our Catering Manager, has been working over recent weeks with the children to review what they like on the menu and write a new one, which is coming home with this letter. She has also been sourcing what she knows is the best ingredients and making sure that we are giving the children what they want but also of the highest quality.
The new menu started from Monday 1st July. Each meal is £2.40 a day. Children in Reception, Y1 and Y2 get universal free school meals and other year groups may be entitled to free school meals based on benefits your family receives. If you think you might qualify, please speak to the office (please do this even if you are in Reception, Y1 or Y2 since we receive extra general school funding based on the number of FSM children we have in school).
We hope the children will enjoy seeing Lorraine and Rosie in their new uniforms and that the children will enjoy their new and improved lunch time dining experience.

Meals are freshly prepared every day in our onsite kitchen, using fresh produce from local suppliers.
We are passionate about providing tasty, nutritious and healthy meals for our children. The children enjoy the school lunches at St Mary's. As well as the main meal they have access to a fresh salad cart, fresh fruit and bread.
The menu is available below for you to look at. If you would like a hard copy of the menu, please come to the school office or download a copy and print a copy using the button below.
If you would like your child to have school meals please either collect a form from the school office or down load and print the form form the tab below.
Children in KS1 (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) are entitled to Free School Meals. Children in KS2 (Years 3-6) will be charged for meals, unless eligible for means tested Free School Meals, this is payable via Parent Mail or cash can be taken to the office.
If you think your child is eligible to Free School Meals please ask at the office for more details or download and print the form below and return it to the office. You will need to provide evidence of benefits to support your application.
