Super Swifts start planning it out ...

​As we enter our second week of our Arabian nights project, we have begun to discover why Scherazade was such a master storyteller!  We loved the fantastical adventures of Sinbad the Sailor and the Fisherman and the genie. It's certainly given us some ideas for our own story plans this week.  We thought about character, setting, problem and solution and the moral of our stories. We came up with some brilliant ideas secret notebooks, hidden treasure, magic lamps and evil thieves.

On Wednesday, we predicted the following part of the Sinbad story using conscious alley and freeze frames as part of our drama activity. This week, we have begun our History part of the 1001 Nights project, learning about why it is important to study Islamic civilisation 900 AD. So many inventions such as cataract operations, windmills, calendars, equipment to measure angles or gradients and more were invented in this time.
 
Our big event of the week was a trip to the Y5/6 rock concert in Oxford on Tuesday. We sung and danced our hearts out as you can see from the photos! Mrs Thom was really proud of our behaviour and our willingness to perform on a large stage in front of a huge audience! 
 
In RE we started to think about what makes a community. We worked in table teams to represent ‘community’ in Lego. We came up with some fantastic ideas but all agreed that community was connection, people and support. 
 
In maths we are looking at division and answering some really tricky word problems.
