Nothing goes to waste!

The second full week of term has been very enjoyable. Kookaburras have been honing their Maths skills by comparing numbers using the greater and less than signs as well as consolidating and expanding their understanding of 2d and 3d shapes. We have finished reading the last of the Jill Murphy picture books and have been picking out some of the repeated phrases used by some of the characters in her stories.  Do you know who wanted, “Five minutes peace from you lot”?     

​Finding an unused compost bin behind the shed in the Fledglings garden was very exciting, and we have now put it to good use outside our classroom where we can compost all the fruit peelings from break time snacks. We had great fun picking up all the mouldy apples under the school fruit trees to get our compost started. We are determined that we will not waste a single apple this year even if it means we have to make lots of apple crumble! Watch this space to see what we do with our bumper crop…
