The Expressive Arts Hub celebrates creativity through Art & Design and Music, giving children the chance to explore ideas, express themselves and develop confidence in their own artistic voice. Pupils learn to experiment with materials, techniques, sound and performance, while discovering the work of artists and musicians from different times and cultures.
We help children make connections between the visual and musical arts, encouraging them to notice patterns, develop their imagination and communicate feelings and stories in creative ways. Expressive Arts are taught in dedicated lessons and enriched through our whole-school Project work, including themed arts days and opportunities to share and showcase learning during both our music showcase and our art exhibition.
We also link with other Hubs—for example, English to support children in talking about and reflecting on their creative choices, and Knowledge of the World to explore artistic traditions from around the globe.
