Knowledge and Understanding of the World

The Knowledge of the World Hub brings together History, Geography and Languages to help children make sense of the world and their place in it. Through these subjects, pupils learn about people and cultures, explore different places and environments, and discover how the past has shaped life today.

We highlight the links between the subjects so children can spot patterns, ask thoughtful questions and understand how events, places and communities are connected. These lessons happen both in dedicated subject time and as part of our whole-school Project work, including themed weeks that focus on specific areas of learning.

We also make connections with other Hubs—for example, Science to support environmental understanding, and English to help children communicate clearly and confidently about the world around them.
