Swifts are incredible birds known for their speed, energy, and ability to fly long distances without stopping. Just like our class, they are determined, resilient, and always on the move! In Year 5, Swifts will be great learners — working hard, supporting one another, and soaring to new heights in everything we do.
In Swifts, we understand the importance of living out our school values every day. Just like the birds we are named after, we aim to soar to new heights by making positive learning and behaviour choices. This helps us reach our full potential and be strong role models for others across the school.

When we are spotted flying high with our values, we are rewarded with house points and marbles. As a class, we have chosen the rewards we would like to work towards — take a look at what we’re aiming for below!
| 150 marbles | 300 marbles | 450 marbles | 600 marbles |
| 30 minutes busy time | 45 minutes computer time | Outdoor play afternoon | Non-school uniform day |
It’s such a joy to be welcomed into the St Mary’s family and to be teaching Year 5 this year. Together, we’ll be living out our school values of Learning, Transforming, and Growing as we take on new challenges and celebrate our achievements along the way.
When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll often find me outside going for a walk, drinking coffee with friends or enjoying a good book.
Our Class book - Land of Stories - The wishing spell

Our story follows the twins Alex and Connor Bailey, who are struggling after their father's death. On their birthday, their grandmother gives them a book, The land of stories. One day, they fall into it and are transported into a magical world where classic characters like Cinderella or Snow White are real. To return home, they have to collect different items for the Wishing Spell, which sends them on a dangerous adventure across kingdoms. Along the way, they face witches, wolves and a lot of unexpected challenges.
