Welcome to Swallows

Swallows are small familiar garden birds, best known for their bright orange-red breast. In Swallows class we are kind and polite to others and always try our best, no matter the challenge!

In year 2, we love discovering new things and taking on new learning challenges. Our learning journey this year begins with our project 'Survival' which links science, art and D&T. Next, we are going to be learning all about what happened during the Great Fire of London and its impact since then.   During the Spring term, our focus will be on learning about rainforests, especially looking at their seasonal changes and the impacts this has on plants. Our final topics for the year are based around experiencing what school life was like in the past and discovering the world around us, where we will conducting a local field study. Every term, we have planned either fun educational trips or exciting WOW moments that will truly allow the children to hook themselves into our learning.

In Swallows, we think about our learning behaviour and consider our choices carefully. We learn from our mistakes and support each other. We collect house points and stars in the jar for making the right choices and together we have chosen our rewards:

Our teacher - Miss Weber

I am very excited to be teaching year 2 this year, and look forward to creating a thriving and welcoming learning environment in our Swallows class. I look forward to exploring the world with the children through our exciting projects this year as well as our school trips. One of my favourite subjects to teach is Maths, and I can't wait to start breaking down and discovering number bonds with the Swallows. On the weekends, you will often find me spending time outdoors, swimming in hopefully not too cold lakes or baking gluten free and vegan cakes.

OUR CLASS BOOKS FOCUS
A Walk in London follows a young girl and her mother as they explore the iconic sights of London on a day out. Through their journey, the children are introduced to famous landmarks such as Big Ben, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and more. It’s both an informative and delightful guide for children, capturing the wonder of discovering London for the first time.
