Veg Power

Last week's trip to Canalside Community Farm Project was a big success. Not only did all the Merlins behave beautifully, but they also learned loads about where their food comes from. We were surprised to see just how far apples, oranges and bananas travel before landing on our supermarket shelves.

We also had a tour of the fields and saw how beans, fennel, pumpkins, beetroot, rainbow chard and many other vegetables grow. The Merlins had so many questions and were really enthusiastic learners (and some of us took the time to invent a new sport - Fennel Limbo!)

Most surprisingly though was snack time. The Merlins were presented with plates full of fresh, organic, raw veg all grown at the farm. I can honestly say that I have never seen so many children eating so much veg with so much joy (especially when the beetroot turned our tongues pink).  It was amazing!
